In this article:

    Introduction

When you start up an online shop, you need to consider how you will receive payments for your products and services. You can offer several different payment methods through the shop. If you wish to accept payment cards, MobilePay, ViaBill, Vipps, Anyday, etc. this can be done through our OnPay payment gateway. Onpay will become an integrated part of the shop that support the aforementioned payment methods. We also offer full customer support on questions and any issues regarding the Onpay gateway.

    About acquirers and payment gateway

To receive online payments by card, you need a so-called acquring agreement. The acquiring agreement is an agreement to accept card payments online with an acquirer. The acquirer is a financial institution that receives the payment from the customer (via the customer's bank where the customer's payment card is linked) and forwards it to the merchant's account.
The process goes through a payment gateway, which is a separate system for handling transactions between the merchant and the acquirer. In other words, the payment gateway handles transactions with amount information that is converted by the acquirer into actual amounts that are then transferred between banks.

This division ensures that each process is managed by the appropriate institutions. All parties are subject to rules and regulations that ensure the process of online payment is secure.

    Payment methods in the shop

    • Payment cards (Visa, Visa/Dankort, MasterCard, etc.):Requires an acquiring agreement and payment gateway.
    • Wallet apps (MobilePay, Apple Pay, Google Pay etc.): Requires an acquiring agreement and payment gateway.
    • Direct Transfer (PayPal): Requires a PayPal business account and payment gateway.
    • Installment payment (Anyday, ViaBill and Klarna Payments): Requires an agreement with provider and payment gateway.
    • Subscription (SubScripto app): Requires an agreement with app provider, acquiring agreement and payment gateway..
    • Invoice: Can be created and sent directly from the shop or via a financial system.
    • EAN Invoice: Can be done through the financial system or manmanually on virk.dk
    • Cash payment: Via POS (virtual cash register) or integration with physical cash register.

The word "Payment Gateway" is synonymous with "Payment System". Since wallets, (digital wallets such as MobilePay, Google Pay and Apple Pay) are tied to the card on which the payment is actually made, wallets are also considered card payments. Transfers in other systems, such as PayPal, are similar to a bank transfer because PayPal makes payments with electronic currency and is therefore not considered a wallet or card payment.

You can see an overview of all payment-related apps in the shop's App Store under Apps > Visit App Store by selecting the Payment category:
