Delivery methods

In this article:

    Introduction

In this article, we'll take a closer look at the settings for the delivery methods. A delivery method can, for example, be connected to an app (see Apps in the sidebar) like PostNord or GLS, etc. This makes it possible to connect the shop with the carrier in question. Some delivery methods will only work as intended when the corresponding app has been installed, and it has been set up with the relevant information from your contract with the carrier. You can also choose to handle your shipping manually and apply for an agreement with a carrier later. Regardless of how you plan to organize your delivery methods, this article will lend you a helping hand.

    Walkthrough

A delivery method is divided into three sections in the administration of the shop: Essentials, Pricing and Availability. All three settings need to be set up in order for the delivery method to become active in the shop.

    Go to Settings > Delivery:

    Section 1: Essentials

    1. Name: This is the title of your delivery method, eg. "GLS Parcel Service" etc.

    2. Description: Specify additional information about the delivery method in question, eg. "2-3 days delivery", etc.

    3. Carrier: Select you carrier. If you handle your shipping manually (eg. by writing the adress on the parcel and sending it off from a postal office), you can set the carrier to "Normal".

    4. Message to carrier: (Where can we place the parcel?): Check the box if you want the customer to provide additional information to the carrier. Note: This field will be required if enabled.

    5. Languages: If you have multiple languages on your site, you can define on which languages the delivery method in question should be visible.

    6. Method type: Select whether the pricing should be calculated according to weight or order total. Note: The method type cannot be changed once the delivery method has been created. You need to create a new delivery method with a different method type.

    7. Internal note: Write a note for internal use in the webshop administration. It is an optional field that can be used if you need to explain more about the delivery method in question.

    Section 2: Pricing

    1. Pricing Intervals: The price of the delivery method is calculated here based on the method type selected under "Essentials" (Order weight or total amount). You can add an unlimited number of pricing intervals. The next interval on the list determines how the previous one applies. In this example, the shipping cost is 70 DKK if the order weight is between 0 and 5 kilograms.

    2. Free shipping Enable free shipping to set a purchase limit. If this limit is exceeded, the shipping method will not calculate shipping. For example, if you enter "499.99" in the field, your customers will have to buy 500 DKK to get free shipping.

    3. Settings:

      • Include VAT in delivery price: Calculation of VAT on shipping. By default, you must charge VAT on your freight when selling in Denmark and therefore this feature is enabled by automatically.

      • Exclude from delivery: Do not include this shipping method in the shipping estimate calculated in the basket.

    4. Additional Fee: An extra fee can be added in addition to all other delivery costs. The fee is calculated on the order total and added to the shipping price in checkout.

    5. Weight limit settings:

      • Lowest weight limit: If checked, the delivery method will not be visible if the order is below the weight limit.

      • Deactivate method over highest weight limit/order total: If checked, the delivery method will be hidden if the order exceeds the set weight limit or order total.

      • Additional fee above limit: Specify a fee if the order weight total/total amount exceed the specified values in your pricing intervals.

    Section 3: Availability

    1. Available for products (will be visible after creating the delivery method):

      • All products: The shipping method is available for all products (if the other criteria for shipping method visibility are met).

      • Only these products: (fixed delivery method): This setting makes it possible to lock a delivery method to specific products. You check the setting here, and then you need to connect the delivery methods to the products individually. Read more in the article linked above. After connecting the products, they will be visible in this section.

Note: This feature is only available on shipping methods calculated by weight and cannot be used for Drop Point delivery (parcel shops etc.). Read more about fixed delivery methods here.

    2. Availability: Select which customer types, groups and payment methods this delivery method should be available for.

    3. Locations:

      • Countries: Select which delivery countries the shipping method should apply to.
Note: The delivery method will not be visible in the frontend of the shop if you haven't selected a delivery country.

      • Customized: It is possible to specify ranges with postal codes to limit which postal codes the delivery method applies to. For example, you can specify two single values (e.g. "8660", "8660") if you want to limit a range to a single zip code. Then, add additional ranges by clicking "Add range":

      1. Insert a comma separated list of specific postal codes.

      2. Use the ranges to specify a range between which all postcodes are included.

      3. Click the link to add a new interval.

The two functions can be used simultaneously.
